Technology seems to change by the hour, so how does your ministry keep up? Technology and Ministry is a six session learning circle designed to address some of the most pressing issues about how to incorporate technology into your ministry. Over the six sessions the group will examine and develop skills using on-line presentation software that will addresses questions like, "We want to move in this direction, yet don't know where or how to start?" "How do I use pictures and movie clips in worship?" "I know social media is important to ministry, yet I don't know how to use it?" "What's all this about clouds anyway?" "We updated our church website a year ago, isn't that good enough?" and "Is this legal?" Join us and delve into:
- It's a Blank Screen Here! -- building a media ministry from the ground up
- Let Them See It -- the use of visual media in worship
- Do We Have a Social Network? -- social media and how it affects your ministry
- My Files Are In the Cloud -- the use of cloud technology in ministry settings
- Virtual Church -- church web-design for beginners
- Can We Post This? - copyright law and on-line ministry
Rev. Dr. Bob K Fillier serves Christ United Church, a 'rurban' congregation in Lyn, Ontario of about 220 families. Technology has always been a part of his ministry and he has recently competed a doctorate entitled, iPreach: the use of digital media and the art of preaching. He has offered several learning circles that have been upgraded from his experience and was one of the first to use web-conferencing technology for meetings and worship both at the conference and General Council levels. "People don't need to be afraid of technology," he says, "these sessions are about getting comfortable and discerning how to incorporate technology into a particular ministry context."
NB -- participants must have broadband Internet access
